Abdoul Aziz Ahmadou (September to November 2024)

Abdoul Aziz Ahmadou is a researcher based in Montreal, QC, currently a Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship candidate. Abdoul has been working with the Groupe d'Études Turques et Ottomanes (GETO) at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) since September 2022, where he contributes to research on the Middle East and Maghreb, and organises conferences to promote Turkish studies. He also carried out a research internship in Turkey and is a visiting researcher at the Centre International de Criminologie Comparée at the Université de Montréal.

Research topic (CICC internship): The role of non-state actors in preventing radicalisation and violent extremism among young people in the Lake Chad Basin region (Central Africa) in the face of the terrorist threat posed by Boko Haram.

Holder of a 1st Doctorate in Contemporary History (African Studies), at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Sakarya in Turkey (obtained in the summer of 2024)

Candidate for a PhD in History (Contemporary Middle East Studies/Turkey) at the Université du Québec à Montréal (since autumn 2022)
