Based on a study conducted with children aged 8 to 18 regarding their lockdown experience, this article discusses theoretical and methodological issues related to participation processes. In response to the global pandemic, numerous countries were required throughout 2020 to undertake population lockdown measures. This study sought to obtain information regarding the views and experiences of both children under youth protection care and the professionals working with them. The employed qualitative and participative methodology involved interviews with professionals (N=11) and children (N=13), the development of a questionnaire with the help of the interviewed children, as well as the interpretation, with a group of children, of the responses (N=217). The article also presents certain results from the child-assisted interpretation. Lastly, we propose a consideration of the conditions, obstacles and effects that such a participatory approach can entail.
This seventeenth episode interviews Elodie Faisca.
